CLOUDSAREREALLYGOODATMUSIC

So, it's been a pretty loooong week...and a pretty good one at that. After the madness of LDN last week I made a concious effort to have a pretty lazy Sunday and Monday before things kicked off again on Tuesday. Tuesday was unplanned carnage...one of those days you didn't really see coming...and without you even realising, suddenly it's 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon and you're left wondering what the hell happened.

My carnage started when late in the day I managed to get myself on the venue guestlist for The XX at Studio 24. Grizzly Bear were playing in town on the same night, so it had always been a tough decision for me as to which one to buy tickets for, then they both sold out, so I was truly expecting to spend my Tuesday night alone in my flat crying on the couch. I went to the gig, saw them along with support from These New Puritans, who were RUBBISH by the way, and then several Jagerbombs, beers, rums, gins, etc later I knew it was gonna be one of those weeks. Thank you friends, Studio 24, Sneaky Pete's & Cabaret Voltaire. You made my day.

Wednesday arrived...I did some recording in the afternoon with jesus h. foxx and then got on a train to Glasgow to DJ at the Detour Scotland night at Bar Bloc. We arrived just as they literally 'kidnapped' the entire population of the bar...took them, and the band who had been playing, across the road for a mental gig in a little underpass off Bath Street. There is a video...which I'll post up here as soon as possible! It was actually amazing, but at the time my slightly broken person couldn't quite handle it.

Another night of no sleep and back to Edinburgh to go to work...then I met up with my amazing 67 year old alcoholic (not really) friend for a curry, several bottles of wine and a good old fashioned chinwag. Then off to Cabaret Voltaire to DJ at Sick Note. Was a bit of a funny night, where nothing really went right...broken CDJ, nippy students and nippy Jose Cuervo Tequilla fucks. 3am, the night is over and I finally get to sleep. Yeeeeeesssss!!! Oh, I forgot to tell you about the picture of the most utterly totes awesome cat my friend text me on my way back from Glasgow...here it is:-

Music-wise, this week I've been loving lots of different stuff...we were DJing at This Is Music last night...which was a night we did in conjunction with Detour Scotland, who I mentioned earlier. On the bill we had MOPP, I See Shapes, The Last Battle and the phenomenal The Moth & The Mirror. If you've not listened to their stuff then you NEED to now! Aaand, I personally don't think their MySpace does them masses of justice, but live they are fucking brilliant and I can't wait to see them again! And here are some wee treats for ya....

Seeing as The XX kicked off my week in style, let's start with their remix of Florence's cover...

Florence & The Machine - You've Got The Love (The XX Remix)

And then, a track I've been really enjoying playing out live during the past few months...it's a classic, but a totes awesome remix!

Daft Punk - Around The World (Kid Dub Remix)

A silly track I heard played as bed music on some crap BBC Three programme the other day, which I then played as our last tune last night...

Shaggy - Boom Shakalaka

And a final thought; CLOUDS ARE REALLY GOOD AT MUSIC!! We recently stumbled upon these awesome young producers from Perth and are in complete awe of their talents. They're playing in Edinburgh soon at FAKE at Sneaky Pete's and we pure canny wait! We'll hopefully get them at one of our nights soon, and will definitely keep you posted on their progress...for now though, why not head along to their site and check them out!? You WON'T regret it. I promise.

Here are a couple of tracks they said we could stick up here! Yaaaaaassss!!

Clouds - Strip Strike

Clouds - Suck It

Until I have more stories to tell...stay totes awesome and enjoy Clouds!
